Have You Looked at Fusion 360 Lately? May 2016 Update By Jerry Berns Since it lives in the cloud, Fusion 360 is able to get updates to users fast. Here are some of the best new additions to come out so far this year. If you haven’t looked at Fusion 360 lately, you may not be aware of all the exciting enhancements Autodesk has added in the last few months. I’ve highlighted just a few of the major improvements. Simulation Back in January, one major update highlighted the addition of Thermal and Thermal Stress simulation. Thermal allows you to study a steady- state temperature distribution and resultant heat flow, and Thermal Stress allows you to simulate temperature-induced stress. Now you can analyze your design if temperature is a concern. • Radiation • Convection • Internal Heat After the analysis, you can probe the model to inspect points or surfaces of interest. You can even slice the model to inspect it internally. As part of any simulation study, you need to specify the boundary conditions such as loads. The available load types include: • Applied Temperature 16 • Surface Heat www.cadlearning.com
