7 Tips for Autodesk University 2015 This Autodesk University Extravaganza is our biggest issue yet! And, our 7 th issue of The Blast. To celebrate, I’ve brought back my tips for Autodesk University - 7 tips in our 7 th issue. Monday Events Most people plan their AU schedule for Tuesday – Thursday, but there are several possibilities for Monday, with almost 100 sessions to attend. On the AU sessions page, you can use the “Days” fi lter to narrow your results and fi nd something of value to you on Monday. (For NEWBIES) Attend the AU Freshman Orientation If you’re a fi rst-time attendee and your travel plans align, you should head straight to Lynn Allen’s AU Freshman Orientation. Not only is Lynn a fantastic speaker, she will provide a glimpse of what you can expect throughout the week and tell you about all the don’t-miss events and gatherings. If you want to attend, SHOW UP EARLY. Lynn always draws a crowd. The line will be wrapped around the hall. Show up late and you’ll be at the back of that line, wondering if you’re going to get a seat. AU Freshman Orientation — Monday, November 30 — 5:00-6:30 p.m. Attend the Opening General Session If you’ve read my tips for Autodesk University in the past, you’re thinking, “Kyle, you say this every year.” But it doesn’t change the inspiration and energy you gain from attending this main stage presentation. We’re always looking for ways to gain momentum as we head into the new year and fi nd this to be a great source of motivation. Be there, Tuesday, December 1, 10:30 am – 12:00pm. CEO Carl Bass and CTO Jeff Kowalski host, yet again. Get Your BIM On! For those of you in the industry, I don’t need to harp on the prominent role Building Information Modeling (BIM) is playing in your day-to-day work. But if you’re trying to gain a new perspective or ramp up on the subject, AU is the right place to be. There are over 350 BIM-related classes across various industries. Monday’s Computational BIM Workshop seems like a great place to start, with morning and afternoon sessions, as well as a Networking Lunch. www.cadlearning.com 15
